I was a little skeptical that my cat would like this but the cuteness factor won me over and I was pleasantly surprised! I put this on the floor of my bedroom with both the side flaps open and put a little pad of felt fabric my cat likes to sit on over the pad the backpack comes with for a week or two. After that, I went for a few test walks around my apartment with the backpack on my front so I could check in the mirror if my cat was freaking out (she was not) and built up to walks around the park by my apartment.Unlike the cardboard carrier I had from the shelter, the shape of the backpack allows her to move around, sit up (to look out the window), and lie down (to be hidden). This does mean it protrudes out quite a bit but it's not as heavy as it looks. I've taken her on several half hour walks around the park in this and not once has she meowed or tried to break out which is a complete 180 from that cardboard carrier. Sometimes when I unzip the sides to let her out once we're home, she won't even want to get out!The quality is very nice, it's pretty easy to change out the bubble for the mesh window, and it has a sturdy frame and thick zippers. The straps are pretty comfortable (wearing on your front or back) though after half an hour my shoulders do start to get sore (though I could probably say that about any backpack of a similar weight).All in all I'm very happy I took a chance and purchased this. Be prepared for stares/comments, but hopefully you won't be bothered by it and your cat will enjoy the ride!Ten stars! :) I paid around $150 and I think that’s about what this item is worth (I’ve seen it for $300+ and I would absolutely not pay that for this even though it’s a very good product). I’ll elaborate a bit:Pros:The zippers are metal, not plastic. They seem very strong.The mesh sidings are reinforced from the inside in case kitty decides to test if they’re claw proofIt’s very roomy inside compared to almost any other model I’ve seen online in this formThe feet, bindings and bubble casing are all metal and sturdy as well (my cat figured out how to pop out of the bubble in his previous backpack!)The exterior is a pretty, durable-looking and very mess-friendly (easily wipeable) semi-hard material (not cloth)Comes with extra interior pad and extra leash attachmentCons:The exterior does seem like it might tear with sharp enough claws. A durable cotton canvas or easily reparable genuine leather would have been preferable, too, but that’s mainly because I don’t like plastic.It’s very heavy, even alone. Someone with a back that gets tired easily (like myself) will prefer to use this as a car seat or for very short walking trips. Combining this with a telescoping handle and wheels would be AMAZING!!!I wish it came in more different color options. I would LOVE this in champagne or black!Overall, its usability is fantastic and my cat loves traveling with me again now that I gave him some extra room. I would buy again and probably even pay the extra premium if the aforementioned features were added!Absolutely in love with this carrier! One of my favorite purchases ever. Besides the most obvious being how beautiful and well made it is (It reminds me of classic luggage from the 70's my parents used to own), I live in the city and rely on biking and public transportation when I can't walk. Having the carrier used as a backpack has allowed me to bike my cat to all his vet appointments. Huge plus for me and my body, and what I've been looking for. It's also sturdy and well made like actual luggage, so I feel better biking with it, compared to those thin fabric backpack carriers you see. Heaven forbid there's an accident, I know he has some level of protection those other bags just can't provide. (It's like a helmet for him, too). It also has a top handle to hold as a regular carrier, and also has feet for using as a car seat or airplane carrier, so you're really paying for 4 in 1 uses. My cat loves it: He loves to watch and is curious, but is a huge scaredy cat. This allows him to view the world, but in comfort to easily hide. Opening panels at the side is another huge plus: Easiest way to put him in and out, and makes a comfy homebase for him when he's at the vet. The inside has plenty of room for him to sit or lay down (He's 10 pounds for reference), and the cozy insert makes it more comfortable and attractive for him. He is a mesh biter (hence why I needed a new carrier). So far he has been unable to damage it despite any biting. It's so nice (as well as to make him more comfortable with it) leave it as another bed in the house for him. The packing it came in was beautiful as well, and good to store it in. Basically, you get what you pay for, and this is worth every penny.I’ve been interested in buying this backpack as it is nice to be able to walk with the cat to the beach or around the neighborhood and he can safely look around. He’s been an outdoor cat and now he’s indoors this is our compromise.The backpack is well made and is able to support a 15 lb cat on short jaunts. The option of the grid cover or bubble is really nice - I only wish the bubble one had holes for breathing which is the only drawback I see. So I tether him to the bungee leash and remove the window so he can just stickhis head out. He’s also able to lay down in it but not stretch out so I wouldn’t use this for his traveling. He has a different backpack for traveling that’s more roomier for longer distance (via plane or car).Overall I love it - if there is a way to mount it to my bike so he can ride with me that would be great!This is so perfect and is perfect size for my 20lb 2 year old Ragdoll! It was so perfectly packaged as well! Would totally recommend to everyone!I love this backpack!!Its sturdy, it's roomy!I have 2 boston terrier puppies and they both travel really well in this when I'm riding my motorbike!They look out of the mesh window and I can attach both of their harnesses to the safter clip so they are secure.I love the fact it comes with a extra pillow pad also!I don't know what I'm gona do when they outgrow it. Have two ragdolls and ordered two bags. and my cats have quite good space in the bag and look very comfortable which is very important for me. Very fast delivery. Recommended ?We bought it for our chihuahua and she just loves it. It even fits her favourite blanket so she can nap in the bag.It's a bit heavy, but it's really sturdy made.So not only she feels safe, but I do too!The only downside is how easily the leather will get a scratch (especially on the bottom) and it will start to flake like crazy....I solved it with lots of clear glue and clear nail polish, but it's still a shame in a way.
